Helen Mathwin is a visual artist and co-founder of Wide Open Road Art based on Dja Dja Wurrung country in Central Victoria, Australia. Helen Frequently collaborates with artists Susie Elliott and Hermione Merry to explore issues relating to connection and scale. Individually this enquiry  is concerned with colonisation and the concept of home. These questions underpin her current PhD candidature at LaTrobe University.  Over the last few years her work has been primarily public, performative and/ or installation based. She has recently received grants for work for the Regional Centre for Culture, Mt Alexander Shire, Creative Victoria, Regional Arts Victoria and Castlemaine State Festival.

Helen strongly believes in the radical potential of public art.
